Thiruvananthapuram: A 20-year-old woman sustains a stab wound and some broken after being attacked by a young man in Uzhappakonam near Valiyamala on Monday.
Surya Gayathri, who was injured in the attack, was treated in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.
His condition was reportedly important.
The police took Arun, 28, a citizen of Peyad to detention and he had been slapped with part 307 IPC, which was related to murder efforts.
The police said the incident occurred around 2pm.

His father was having lunch in the next room when he saw someone moving to the backyard.
Gayathri and his father stepped out to see when Arun slipped home through the backyard.
His mother who watched the stranger knocked strongly on the table to remind Gayathri and his father.
When they entered, Arun grabbed his hair and destroyed his head against the wall.
Gayathri fell to the ground and he stabbed him repeatedly with his stomach, neck, knee, and his right arm.
Arun who tried to escape from the scene was immediately arrested.
The police said Arun had a criminal history and had three cases registering against him at the museum station.
Police have collected statements from his mother, lottery vendors.
Gayathri married and had lived separately from her husband, police said.
Previous hostility existed between Arun and Gayathri.
However, the police have not strengthened this.
