Colombo: Indian Cricketers Krishnappa Gowtham and Yuzvendra Chahal have been forced to remain back in Sri Lanka after testing the positive Covid-19 in a pre-departure test, joining the Krunal Pandya All-Rounder who has been isolated before.
A previous BCCI official said that the squad had gone from Colombo but was still waiting at the airport after new cases were revealed and expected to leave later that day.
“Yuzi and Gowtham have tested positive because the team should return by rented flight to Bengaluru Sans Krunal Pandya.
But now according to the rules, Gowtham and Yuzi must also be in the Isolation of seven days in Sri Lanka,” BCCI source in Colombo told PTI about the condition of anonymity.
Each member before riding a flight back should undergo a RT-PCR test and there Gowtham and Chahal, considered the close contact of the Krunal, has been found positive.
Six others – Hardik Pandya, Pandey Manish, Ishan Kiswan, Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw and Deepep Chahar – free to leave the country.
Shaw and solar should be flown to England where they will join as a substitute after Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar were injured.
