Lucknow: Two people were diagnosed with Zika in Lucknow on Thursday, making the first duo contracted a virus in the state capital after more than 100 patients, including pregnant women tested positively at Kanpur and one in the Kannauj district, reported Yusra Husain.
A 24-year-old woman from Lda Colony (Kanpur Road) and a 32-year-old man from Phoolbagh in the Hussainganj area, has tested Zika’s positive.
They were asymptomatic without a history of travel before contracting the virus, which was distributed by Mosquito Aedes Aegypti Dengue.
Samples of four contacts were taken by the Ministry of Health on Thursday night and the anti-larval and fogging spray exercises were carried out with city corporations.
Soon after the Zika outbreak in Kanpur, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) team in the Lucknow district has started a sampling of random fever that came to the Joint Hospital of Lokebarhu Raj Narayan, SPM Civil Hospital and SPM.
From November 3, more than 250 random samples were sent to King George’s Medical University (KgMu) for the test.
“Two patients were tested positively, but they did not show symptoms.
Their samples were collected at the Lokebarhu Hospital and civil hospital between 8 and 9 November, when they experienced a mild fever,” said the officer of the District Supervision of Dr Milind Vardhan.
While women patients were isolated in Lucknow, male patients went to attend the wedding in Ambedkarnagar, before the test results were announced on Thursday.
“The health team in Ambedkarnagar has been toolate patients.
It is important to curb Zika’s patient movement to avoid the spread of the virus,” Dr.
Vardhan said.
Because there is no special treatment or vaccine available, only the simtomatic treatment given, Dr.
Vardhan appealed to people to remove stagnant water which made it conducive to mosquitoes to breed.
“No need to panic because this is not a serious illness.
Most of the symptoms and very few symptomatic patients who need hospitalization.
The death rate is almost neglected.
But this virus is caused by mosquitoes, which breed in stagnant water which is clearly found in Around the house and garden.
People must regularly drain the stagnant water from the cooler, from the bottom of the pan and tire, “he said.
