Thiruvananthapuram: A group of Zika viruses has been identified in a radius of three kilometers of Anayara here and the steps are taken for the destruction of mosquitoes in the area to prevent its spread to other places, said Health Minister George on Wednesday.
The minister, in the release, also said that the control room had been established in the district medical office after the Zika outbreak in the capital city, where all 23 cases of virus were reported.
The decision to establish control rooms and conduct mosquito destruction activities, such as fogging in an affected area, taken at a special review meeting held on Wednesday by the minister after the plague, said the release.
The minister said counseling was also being carried out to create awareness among people related to exercise be careful of the Zika virus and not to panic.
George said the state must be aware of the Zika virus and preventive operations have been intensified in other parts of Thiruvananthapuram.
In addition to fogging, emphasis will be placed on the destruction of the source of mosquitoes, he said and added that mosquito breeding should not be allowed around the house and institution.

Special attention must be taken to prevent mosquitoes from breeding in the house,” Minister said and added that other than Zika, steps must be taken to prevent the spread of dengue fever, other vector diseases.
