Sambalpur: Sambalpur Zilla Parishad on Wednesday issued a resolution to declare the broken district sambalpur.
President Zilla Parishad Radheshyam Barik said, “We discussed agricultural rainfall and deficit.” Official sources said the temporary normal rainfall in July was 429.5 mm, the district only received 310.11 mm rainfall in July 2021.
Likewise, while normal rainfall in August was 442.4 mm, the district only received 76 mm rainfall.
So far in August, while the Jujumura Blocks received rainfall of 123.50 mm, the block rengali recorded 45 mm and MANESWAR block 27.60 mm.
Likewise, Block Kuchinda received rainfall of 17.70 mm, erakira block 57.80 mm, Bamra 145.80 mm, rairakhol 49 mm, nactideul 168 mm and block Dhankauda in the district received 49.60 mm rainfall until August 18 this month.
“The situation in this district is very sad.
Farmers expect good rainfall but disappointed.
There is a situation of drought in Kuchinda, Kira and other non-irrigated areas,” said the leader of the Byomkeseh Thakur farmer.
Chief District Agriculture Officer (CDAO), Sambalpur, Saroj Kumar Chand, also acknowledged that there was a need for rainfall for rice plants.
Official sources said the target was set to grow rice around 1.04 lakh hectare.
