ZP will establish a center of Van Dhan to promote minor forest products

MySuru: Chamarajanagar Zilla Panchayat has decided to establish Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKS) to promote minor forest products.
It aims to improve the livelihood of the tribal population and to empower tribal women.
This scheme will help alleviate economic pressure from the tribal community by providing local platforms for processing, adding value, marketing forest minor products.
Under the mission of the national rural livelihood (NRLM), the Government Government has provided two central sanctions for 2019- 20 to Chamarajanagar Zilla Panchayat and four other centers for the financial year 2021-22.
The two centers approved in 2019-20 were established in Punajanur in the Chamarajanagar Taluk and Bukit BR in the Taluk.zp Hill now have initiated the process of preparing the remaining four centers in tribal-dominated areas such as Bandli in Hanur Taluk, Yaragamballi in Yarlandur Taluk, Kodasoge In Gundlupet Taluk and Gulaipur in Chamarajanagar Taluk.
As a guideline, each VDVK center must consist of 300 women as members including 60 percent of community tribal; The rest are other socio-economic background communities.
These members must come from the independent group group.
Women from forest areas can sell their small forest products such as wild honey, coffee, acid, brooms, furniture, other household bamboo products, among others, through this VDVK after being a member, the source said.
Speaking to Toi, Chief Executive Zilla Panchayat KM Gayathri said Punajanur VDVK would process products such as honey and acid, while B Hills VDVK will process coffee and honey.
He said ZP had trained 25 women from VDVs about packing, labeling and marketing their products with the help of people and resource experts in the relevant fields.
The Government Government has provided each center of RS 15 Lakh to establish VDVKS.
From Rs 15 Lakh, Rs 5 Lakh will be spent to train elected women and the remaining 10 lakh Rs used to pack, label, and market the product through these centers.
“The VDVK Center will function from the Head Office of Gram Panchayat in approved villages.
The centers will be supervised through the CEO of ZP with the help of director of the project and local resources,” said Director of the ZP Krishnaraju project.
