Vadodara: 102-year-old botanical park at the Faculty of Science University M now not only has a park for the park visually but also provides a glimpse of Vadodara’s history.
And it will give a little Jurassic era when you enjoy a sip of fresh flower juice! Botanical gardens who are inaugurated to celebrate Sir Ijirao Diamond Jubilee Day on Monday now have a plot ‘Why Vadodara?’ – Established specifically to describe the etymology behind the name – Vadodara.
“The name of the Cultural City of Vadodara is due to the large number of banyan trees.
Previously, the city was called ‘Vadnagari’ and even ‘Vattprad’.
We have kept all the banyan tree species in this plot to show off this,” said Dr.
Padamnabhi Nagar, Associate Professor and Park Inspector of the Botanical Department.
“We can modify the botanical garden because of the support we received from Dean Professor Haribhai Kataria and University Engineer Rudresh Sharma,” he said.
This new tourist attraction includes Jurassic era plants – in plots that have beautiful pteridofi (like ferns) and Gymnosperm members.
“This plant belongs to the Jurassic period.
Here the oldest trees such as Cycas Revoluta and Cycas Circitary are more than a hundred years old,” said Taman Tanmay Rohit said.
This park also has ‘Nakshatra Udhyan’ – built on astrological principles with holy plants such as ‘bilva’, ‘ashoka’, ‘pipal’ which has grown to maintain the position of 9 ‘Graduation’, 12 ‘Rashis’ and 27 ‘Nakshatras’ in thought.
There is a ‘arrogyam’ plot with many drug plant species labeled with the name of the disease that heals, the formulation and direction of use! “Likewise, we have a plot called ‘Sacred Grove’ which is decorated with very important trees such as ‘Radha Vad’, ‘Sita Vad’, ‘Chandan’, ‘Krishna Vad’, ‘Kunti’ and ‘Putranjiva’.
Each tree has its own significance in connection with religious values or treatment, “said Snehal Chavda, another park supervisor.
‘Paper of the Provider’ consists of oxygen enrichment plants such as snake plants and mother-in-law while the palm palm plot consists of various palm species.
Interestingly, visitors will also be able to shop for botanical gardens.
“Students and research scholars we have prepared these products.
These products include organic fertilizers developed in the botanical garden themselves from organic waste, essential oil perfumes extracted in our department laboratory.
And fresh juice varieties prepared from plants and flowers – hibiscus juice, clitoris juice, rose juice.
They are sold by our Phytochemistry research scholars, “said Nagar.
