Bengaluru: The Karnataka Government in a response to a question submitted by the MLC Congress U B Venkatesh has said that he has registered as many as 11 cases related to Bitcoin fraud, which even includes two cases associated with Srikrishna and Bitcoin Scam hackers.
Affairs Minister Arga Jnanendra said on Thursday that the government submitted the cases in the last three years, on November 30.
In accordance with the details provided by the Government, from two cases related to the Srikrishna and Bitcoin fraud, the extent to which fraud, the extent to which it has not been revealed.
However, the government revealed that it had succeeded in restoring or utilizing a large number of Rs 29 lakh in nine cases where fraudsters claimed to have invested in bitcoin or made investors believe they would invest in bitcoin.
The total value of nine cases is claimed in the FIRS at RS 2 Crore.
According to Jnanendra’s response, the defendant in at least three cases escaped while the case had been submitted in eight cases left.
When questioned about the involvement of the police in cases related to Srikrishna, Jnanendra rejected all charges and said the police had done their duties in this case related to alleged Bitcoin scam and claimed that it was also only a case of fraud.
“There is no scam in it but only fraud,” Claims Minister of Home Affairs.
Congress legislator, however, was not satisfied with the response and asked for a seat to have a detailed discussion about this problem in the ongoing session itself.
The Chairperson of Basavaraj Horati asked the opposition leader in power S R Patil to provide a written request about this problem and said he would consider it.
