Rajkot: Ministry of Health Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Saturday damages the racket supplying duplicate milk solids (Mawa) used in making traditional sweets.
They confiscated 120kg duplicate mawa made from vegetable extract from Gondal Chowkdi.
This product is sold in the city of Rajkot at a price of less than half the price of pure mawa made of milk fat.
Usually, Mawa is made of milk fat, but shares confiscated by the RMC health department found out of soybeans, starch, corn flour and skim milk powder.
According to RMC officials, Mawa made of pure milk is sold with Rs 400 per kilogram.
But Duplicate Mawa is sold at a price of Rs 140 per kg in the Rajkot market.
They say that MAW consumption made from vegetable extracts can be proven to be harmful to health.
Officials said that Mawa was confiscated from Kutiyana in Porbandar Regency.
Health officials have sent samples for testing in the Laboratory in Vadodara and starting an investigation.
Dr.
Pankaj Rathod, City Health Office Deputy, said, “This Mawa is made of vegetable extract is harmful to human health.
This can cause blood pressure, heart problems, and even kidney disease.
This saturated fat is also not hygienic.” According to health officials, Sometimes this duplicate mawa can also cause food poisoning.
According to sources, Duplicate Mawa was supplied from Porbandar and Junagadh since the last few months.
Suppliers and recipients are both demanded based on security laws and food standards, said Rathod.
