Moscow: An explosion and fire at the gunpowder factory in Russia on Friday killed 16 people, officials said.
The emergency situation ministry said the explosion hit the elastic factory in the Ryazan region, around 270 kilometers (around 167 miles) southeast of Moscow.
His initial official said that the explosion killed seven people and left nine disappeared, but hours announced that everything missing was dead.
One person was hospitalized with a serious injury, according to local officials.
The ministry said 170 emergency workers and 50 vehicles were involved in dealing with fire.
The Ministry of Emergency Situation said the explosion was caused by failure that was not determined during the production process.
