Berlin: A man attacked and injured two people who passed in East Germany Erfurt early Monday, apparently with a knife, before running away.
The police said the suspect was arrested a few hours later.
Two victims, German men aged 45 and 68 were taken to the nearest hospital and underwent surgery, police said.
Meanwhile, the authority used a helicopter to find a suspect after an attack around 6 in the morning the investigation led the authority to a 32-year-old German man with a record of violence and other violations that had mental health problems in the past, the police said in a statement.
He was arrested in his apartment with an insured injury and seemed to have a self injury and was taken to the hospital.
The attack motif was not immediately clear, but the police said there was no reason to suspect that it was politically motivated.
The suspect and the victim did not know each other.
