Patna: Two people were shot dead in group competition for the election of Panchayat in Rohiyama Village under the Bellurur police station in the Khagaria District Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Kishundev Choudhary (50) and Haribol Yadav (60), a retired housekeeper Jawan.
The incident triggered tensions in the village because both groups were not interested in succumbing.
Feeling the situation gravity, Khagaria SP Amitesh Kumar has deployed an additional armed force there.
Sulekha Devi (45), Kishundev’s wife, told the police on Monday that her husband tried to mobilize his favorable support for the position of members of Panchayat Samiti in the upcoming election, to be held in Pancayat on October 24.
“About 12 on Sunday night, some people came to my residence and asked my husband to come to the Pancrayat meeting.
My husband went to the venue to attend the meeting where he was shot dead,” he said.
On the other hand, Kin Harbol claimed that he was attacked by a rival group led by Kishundev to complete his political score before Panchayaty’s poll.
SP said the reason behind the incident was uncertain.
However, the introduction investigation shows that the old competition could be the reason behind the incident.
The police have held half a dozen suspects to be interrogated.
The Beldaur police station Sho Santosh Kumar said Kishundev was killed in a place while the harbol gave up on a shot injury on his way to a conscious hospital.
The body is sent to SKMCH for postmortem.
Meanwhile, patrolling inside and around the village has been intensified after tension.
However, police officials describe the situation as tense but controlled.
