Chikkaballapur: Several villages in Chikkaballapur Taluk and District experienced two simultaneous earthquake on Wednesday morning.
They have a low intensity and does not cause damage, authorities said.
This tremor experienced in the seven to eight villages of Mandikal and Gram Panchayats adjacent Addagallu, between the hours of 7:09 am and 7:15 am, officials said.
Affected areas about 70 km from Bangalore.
The first earthquake at 7:10 o’clock in the morning measured 2.9 on the Richter scale with episentrilnya 1,4km south southeast mandikal and at a depth of 11km, according to the State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center Karnataka.
The second quake at 7.14am stronger, measuring 3 on the Richter scale and episentrnya 1.2km east southeast village Bhogaparthi in Addth 23km.
According KSNDMC the quake low intensity vibration they might feel to a distance of 10-15 km.
However, local officials said several houses have developed cracks.
Villagers Bhogaparthi said vibrations lasting a few seconds.
Given that it was a cold day, most villagers were asleep.
According to Asha, Panchayat Development Officer, Mandikal, mild tremor was felt in at least seven villages around mandikal.
He said the villages Bhogaparthi, Bisgaranahalli, Pillagundahalli, Settygere, Bandlahalli, Gundlu Mandikal experience the thrill of milk in the early days.
He said about 10 houses developed a crack in Bhogaparthi, while two damaged in Settygere.
Ganapathi Shastry, Tahsildar, Chikkaballapur Taluk, confirmed the quake was experienced twice in the villages.
In November, about 10 villages Mittahalli Gram Panchayat in Chintamani experienced mild tremors for several days, but they are not recorded on the Richter scale.
The authorities felt tremors as it could be the result of an underground air explosion after heavy rain that fills Borewell and other water bodies in the area.
Some villagers have fled their homes fearing damage and revel Panchayat officials assured them that the vibration was not of an earthquake.
