Prague: Two passenger trains collided in the southwest of the Czech Republic on Wednesday, killing two people and injuring dozens of passengers.
The police said the accident occurred shortly after 8am (0600 GMT) in the city of Milavce.
Czech Railways said the international high-speed train connecting the city of West Czech plenzes with Munich in Germany and local passenger trains involved in a collision.
The Regional Fire Department said at least two people had died.
Dozens of injured people, five of them seriously, fire rescue services from the Plzen region said in a statement.
Four helicopters transported injured to the nearest hospital.
Czech Transport Minister Karel Havlicek said human mistakes might cause the accident.
He said high-speed train drivers had failed to stop at the designated location.
“The situation is serious,” said Havlicek, who was heading to the site.
