Concerns of travelers from Kerala triggered an outbreak in the state struck Thursday when 21 students registered in private nursing colleges at Hassan City were tested positive for Covid-19.
The students, the ARR Ived two weeks ago from their hometown in Kerala, lived in the guest facilities paying.
They have since been transferred to another cottage where they have been isolated.
About two dozen other students who are the main contacts are also isolated in the same facility.
The students were pursuing a study program at a college located near the Katatalli industrial area.
45 students live in the PG facility located in Kr Puram.
All infected students arrived at Hassan around before July 26 to attend the exam.
They have completed the negative reports of Covid-19 on arrival.
Because no one is inoculated, the health department official takes the initiative and gives them all the first doses of the covishield.
“On Tuesday, a student who showed Covid’s symptoms experienced a RT-PCR test.
It confirmed the infection and test then carried out on the remaining students in PG.
Most of them were infected asymptomatik,” said an official.
PG has been sealed and those infected and the main contact was transferred to a private cottage near the city center.
The test will be carried out on the main contact on Friday and Saturday.
“Our team visits all 10 breastfeeding colleges in the city on Thursday,” said a health department official.
Officials also said two students from Hassan City Science College were also tested positive on Thursday.
“We are thinking of testing all students and staff in all universities,” said Dr.
Km Sathish, district health workers.
