22, including Warden, Infected in Hostel MSU Boys’

Vadodara: The Hall of Ms University’s residence was completely under the grip of the pandemic because more students were tested Covid-19 positive on Friday.
The day after holding a special drive testing at the Girls Hostel premise, MSU in relation to Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) held a similar drive on the main campus Boys Hostel where positive cases were detected.
At present, 270 students live in 12 Hostel Building Main Campus Boys Hostel.
On Friday, 141 students voluntarily participated in the testing drive.
Of the 21 students tested positively in a fast antigen test.
Sardar Patel Hall’s warden also tested positively taking the total number of Covid cases in the premise of the hostel to 22.
The university has directed the guard of all 12 Boys Hostel to make the settings needed for students who have been tested positively.
All infected students are stored in the wing of isolation from their respective hostel buildings.
Also, buildings are disanited as part of the preventive measures to contain the spread of infection.
With the addition of 22 new cases, the total number of Covid cases in Halls of Residence has crossed 60.
On Thursday, 36 female students have been tested positively during a special testing drive.
Before the special test camp, the Hostel campus had witnessed cases scattered who saw guards, a messy contractor and security guard apart from the test of positive hostel students.
Considering all these cases, the total number of cases in the residence hall has reached 62 in the last ten days.
The majority of these students belong to the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Trade.
The faculties have also seen waves in cases with teachers, non-teaching staff members and other officials who test positive in the last week.
Meanwhile, university officials have begun to tell parents from all hostel students, who have tested positive.
“We have told parents that while we make all the settings needed such as medicines and food for students, they can bring home their homes if they want,” said an official.
