Gurgaon: The city reported 1,447 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, an increase of 14% compared to the previous day.
This is the highest one-day calculation since May 16 last year, when 1,691 people were tested positively.
Not only new cases, daily peposititives, which at 5% on January 1, has increased to 13.4%.
Gurgaon did 10,748 tests on Thursday.
Moreover, the city witnessed a 30% surge in active cases on Thursday since the previous day.
The number of active cases now stands at 4,220, where 28 patients are in hospitals and 4,192 in house isolation.
After increasing cases, 25 new detention zones were told on Thursday.
The city already has 20 closed zones.
“This is a very worrying trend, and we can see between 10,000 and 15,000 new cases every day in Gurgaon if people don’t follow the norms,” said the Medical Officer of Virender Yadav Said.
Haryana has added more districts to the ‘Red Zone’ list.

Previously, the state had five districts as a red zone, including Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ambala, Panchkula, now, Karipat, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Rohtak and Jhajjar have been added to the list.
“We must have witnessed a surge and we expect it to rise further,” said Dhruv Chaudhary, Nodal Nodal officer for Covid-19.
