Ahmedabad: The alarm bell above the third wave knocked on the country’s door went ringing because the Covid case in Gujarat jumped from 204 on Monday to 394 on Tuesday, clocking 93% in 24 hours.
Of the total cases, 312 or 79% are recorded from eight major cities of the country.
For Gujarat, it is the highest daily calculation in 197 days or more than six and a half months.
The increase in exponential daily cases and relatively lower patient release encourages active cases to 1,420 – a 334 increase in a day.
The state also recorded five new cases of Omicron, took the total to 78.
Analysis of increases in daily active cases among Indian countries for Monday based on data from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW) showed that Gujarat recorded a 12.7% increase – fourth highest , behind the Jharkhand (24.3%), Delhi (14.4%) and Bihar (15.4%).
Given the increase in Covid cases in Gujarat, Head of Secretary (CS) Pankaj Kumar held a meeting of collectors and Commissioner of the city on Tuesday.
Officials said that the government had been asked to strengthen contacted contact cases, strict obedience to the micro detention zone with the presence of the police and further vaccination in areas where vaccination was lower than the average.
CS also asks officials to increase testing and search.
“Gujarat is no exception because the cases rise throughout India.
Global trends also show a steady increase in Covid cases.
In Gujarat, the majority of cases are recorded from urban bags.
But if we learn the case in the last few days, hospitalization and mortality have not increased much.
Thus, we urge all to get vaccination and observe the appropriate behavior of Covid including wearing a mask and maintaining social distance, “said a senior health department official.
Manoj Aggarwal, ACS (Health), on Tuesday said that around 30 lakh children will be included in the vaccination drive which will start from Jan 3.
“About 6.24 lakh health services (HCW) and 3.19 lakh frontline workers (FLW) qualify for booster doses.
Likewise, 37,000 senior citizens with comorbidity will be eligible for a dose of booster.
The three categories to get vaccination from January 10, “he said.
