New Delhi: With the case of a developing Omicron variant, the Delhi government has been linked to the plan to increase the number of beds to care for infected patients from around 9,000 now for 37,000, if needed.
At present, only 2.3% of ward beds and 1.4% of ICU beds are provided for the treatment of Covid-19 patients occupied.
The Delhi government has allocated 19,225 beds, which includes Covid-19 beds in 15 hospitals themselves, separate from six hospitals from city companies and eight Covid Care Center.
Apart from this, 3,775 beds in the central government hospital and 14,000 beds in private hospitals will be used for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
As a result, 37,000 beds will be available, if needed.
Minister Arvind Kejriwal has led a meeting with the authorities on November 30 to review readiness amid concerns about omicron variants and the possibility of his threat.
The Delhi government said in a statement that plans have been carved for health services – beds, oxygen, medicines and vaccines – to achieve every environment and every citizen of the city.
The government has judged that 30,000 covid beds are ready in Delhi, with 100 beds per ward to be arranged if needed on two-week notice, taking the total capacity of the bed for more than 64,000.
In addition, 6,800 ICU beds will also be ready soon.
The biggest number of Covid beds will be at the Nayak Lok Hospital, which is also the largest facility for the treatment of patients in NCR.
The hospital and the nearest covid center attached it will have 2,200 beds, apart from 900 ICU beds.
The GTB Hospital in East Delhi will have 1,800 covid beds, the second highest in the city, apart from 900 ICU beds.
Apart from the hospital, the bed will also be arranged in the Covid Care Center.
The center at Yamuna Sports Complex will have 5,000 ward beds and 200 ICU beds.
The Commonwealth Games Village Center, which is partially operational, will have 1,040 covid beds and the center of Sant Nirankari Burari will have 1,000 beds.
The two centers will also have 500 ICU beds each.
While the number of ICU beds is provided for Covid-19 patients less than 3,000 at present, they will increase to 10,594, if needed.
From this, 5,150 ICU beds were in the Delhi government hospital, city companies and Covid Care Center.
In all, 4253 ICU beds will be available in private hospitals and 1,191 ICU beds at the Central Government Hospital.
