Dibrugarh: Almost 24 hours after consuming “Prasad” during a religious ceremony at a house in Chabua from the District Dibrugarh, 38 people were sick on Monday.
The victims, which included five children, were received at the Chabua model hospital for treatment.
Two people whose conditions became critical then shifted to Assam Medical College and the hospital where they were undergoing treatment.
The source said the victims had attended a religious ceremony at the local resident’s house in Dongda Chuk Village in Chabua on Sunday.
They reported consuming beans and other items in their functions.
Almost 24 hours later, they began to complain about nausea, abdominal pain and vomiting.
Meanwhile, health officials have collected food samples and sent them to the laboratory.
