Nagpur: For the third time in the last four weeks, a healthy heart and a pair of lungs, both are suitable for organ transplants, cannot achieve patients who need for logistical reasons.
Family of Shekhar Anjankar (60), who died of a brain stroke, has given approval to contribute all of its eligible organs.
The two kidneys and hearts have saved the lives of three people in the city.
The heart and lung are also given to patients in need at Chennai.
Because it is not possible logistics to move the organ to Chennai, the two offers are rejected.
In two similar cases reported on November 17 and December 3, both the heart and lung were given to patients at the same Chennai MGM Hospital.
But the organs run away due to the problem of connectivity between Nagpur and Chennai.
“Anjankar was treated at Meditrina Hospital on December 13 in a state of unconscious.
The doctor detected acute bleeding in his brain and started treatment.
Even though all efforts, he could not be saved.
A team of doctors declared him to die the brain on Wednesday night,” said Dr.
Sanjay Kolte , Secretary of Nagpur Coordination Zonal Transplant (ZTCC).
Anjankar Maya’s wife, Sons Shubham and Abhishek and Princess Pragati, are all ready to donate their father’s vital organs to save the lives of patients in need.
The kidneys and hearts are allocated locally for patients while waiting.
When local centers do not have registration for the heart and lungs, ZTCC has no choice but to send national warnings.
The national coordination body allocated the heart to a 58-year-old man at the MGM Hospital in Chennai and a pair of lungs to a 67-year-old man in the same hospital.
