Coimbatore: Officials with the Directorate of Income Intelligence have arrested four passengers at city airports for smuggling more than 2.2kg Gold worth 1.1 Crore from Sharjah.
They said that four were operators and had visited Sharjah five days ago.
One of the officials identified who was arrested as Sagubar Saiq Syed Mohamed, Nasardeen Mohamed Thambi, Kaleel Raghuman Mustafa and Thakhakeer Kajamytheen, all native residents of the Ramanathapuram district.
“They flew to the city of Sharjah on Arabia air flights on Wednesday.
Based on certain intelligence, we held them to question and restore gold that was hidden in the rectum and their trousers,” the official said.
“The four have traveled to Sharjah with a tourist visa.
They spent a few days there and returned with 2.2kg gold.
They have not revealed the identity of the recipient.
They are left with conditional guarantees.” TNN.
