Chandrapur: Forest officials from the Saoli range on Thursday damaged the case of tiger hunting and arrested four accused of being involved in the hunting and disposal of the tiger body.
Foresters has recovered 11 boiled tiger mustaches.
The buried carcass will be excavated on Friday before a veterinarian and higher officials.
Based on intelligence input, the forester team led by RFO, Saoli, VB Cambli stormed the house of one Pandurang Gedam in Pendhri Village in Saoli Tehsil.
“Gedam was detained and during the interrogation he admitted that the tiger was killed by an electric wire placed on Hirchand Bhoyar’s agriculture.
The carcass was buried on the nearby river bank with the help of another accused,” said RFO Cambli.
Three more accused, Ramdas Sherki, Pochu Gedam and Hirchand were arrested.
During the investigation it was burning that Bhoard fenced with its agriculture with electric wire to prevent herbivores from intruding, but tigers who had an adult were electrocuted while crossing agriculture three months back.
“With the help of Pandurang, Ramdas and Pochu, Hirchand dragged the carcass to the nearest river bank,” RFO said.
RFO further said that the defendant dug hole in the bank and buried the carcass.
“But because their greed removes the mustache that exposes their crimes,” he said and added that they had identified hunting and burial places.
