Bengaluru: Kodagu, on Thursday, became the fourth district in Karnataka to manage the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine for the entire target population, achieving 100% achievement after Bengaluru Urban (127%), GADAG (102%) and Vijayapura (101%).
“We have touched 100%, although official data shows 1,834 people have not received their first dose,” said Dr.
Gopinath, reproduction and child health, kodagu.
“There are more than 1,300 duplicate entries and this has been taken to the Department of Health notification.
There are more than 500 people who might die or may not take vaccines because of health problems.
Some may have also left the Kodagu.” Dr.
R Venkatesh, Kodagu District Health Officer ( DHO), said the achievement was possible because the district carried out a special vaccination drive twice a week, even though the government mandated only once a week.
“We held a meeting after welding on Wednesday and Friday for microplans and took stock,” he said.
Four other districts are on the verge of completing the first dose coverage of 100%.
Bagalkot has reached 99% and Beleagavi, Chikkaballala and Davanagere 98%, data on the welfare welfare department of health and family.
In a tweet, Minister of Health and Education K Sudhakar congratulates all district and administrative workers about extraordinary achievements.
Overall the first dose coverage in the country was at 96%, with almost 4.7 crores of 4.9 crore people qualified to take vaccines after taking at least one shot.
Bengaluru (BBMP) has covered 91% of the population which qualifies with the first dose.
Health officials said supplies of supply and vaccine initiatives such as ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ (knock on each door), have made a big difference.
“Microplanning in the District Level, efforts to increase last-mile coverage and take vaccines to the doorway of people helped reach this landmark,” said Dr.
Arundhathi Chandrasekhar, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Karnataka.
He is also responsible for Vaccination Covid-19.
The target of the Bengaluru Urban is to autoculate 10.3 lakh people, but more than 13 lakh people take the first dose.
This is associated with a special interest shown by the Deputy Commissioner of Urban Bengaluru J Manjunath and health staff efforts to reach the migrant population, especially those from North Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
But Dr.
Satish C Basarigida, Gadag DHO, claimed it would be difficult to imitate 100% achievements with the second dose.
“Many workers who have taken the first dose in Gadag have moved to other districts and states, especially Goa, Maharashtra, Mangaluru and Bengaluru,” he said.
“We have called them to check whether they have taken the second dose.
Some say one dose is enough for them.” The second dose coverage gadag stood at 66%.
The district that struggles to reach a value of 100%, said the challenge is in covers the rural people.
“Many locals in rural areas have not taken the first dose and we strive to investigate everything through the Task Force for Gram Panchayat,” said Dr.
Shashikanth Muniyla, DHO, Batawayavi.
