Vadodara: Special Investigation Team (Sitting) was formed by the City Police Commissioner Shamsher Singh on Wednesday to oversee the investigation into alleged rape of a 24-year-old law student.
The four member team will focus on covering all corners of the case including a complainant statement and the defendant.
When asked why sitting was formed when the crime branch had investigated the case under the supervision of the additional Commissioner of Chirag Koradiya, Singh, “We want to cover every aspect of this case.
Sitting will guide and supervise the investigation carried out by the Branch Police Inspector.” The team consists of ACP (Traffic) Amita Vani, ACP (CRICE), DS Chauuhan, ACP (Cybercrime) Hardik Makadia and Crime Branch Police Inspector, VR Khair.
“We have included a female officer because this is the case of Rape and Cybercrime ACP has been stored on the team because there is a lot of digital evidence,” Singh told Toi.
Meanwhile, 56-year-old accused of Raju Bhatt was formally arrested on Wednesday after he tested the negative for Covid-19.
The police said that Bhatt cried when he was faced with his picture with the girl.
“Bhatt continues to say that his relationship with the girl is consensual.
He has asked for his help at his academy then why did he continue to visit his flat? The intention was not good and we had proof of photography too,” said a police officer.
ACP (crime) DS Chauhan said, “The girl said that she met Bhatt during a discussion about a multi-crore agreement.
But Bhatt denied being part of such an agreement.

“On September 19, the girl who studied at a private university had accused Jain, who runs the CA company, persecuting him by climbing his drink at the guest house.
He said that Jain also came to the flat and raped it later.
He accused Bhatt also raped him and threatened him with terrible consequences.
