Bengaluru: The four biggest IT companies of India – TCS, Infosys, Wipro and HCL – have seen the strength of their combined employees up more than 1 lakh in the first six months of the fiscal year.
It was 13 times more than in the period according to the previous year, after the pandemic had hit.
And almost double the period that matches pre-pandemic year, 2019-20.
This is an indication of how many requests are taken in IT services.
Businesses throughout the world try to explore their operations with pandemics underlining how important sustainability.
There is a big movement for the cloud because of its ability to increase IT requirements up and down very quickly.
The movement to Cloud also opens new opportunities in analytics, artificial intelligence, and on the Internet of Things.
Digitization has also proven fertile land for cyber criminals, and who have, in turn, causes massive demand for cyber security.
TCS, which has 5.2 lakh employees, leads the recruitment momentum (see graph).
Some recruitment by the company is to deal with a high friction rate.
The friction of the last quarter infosys rose to 20.1%, from only 13.9% in the June quarter.
Other companies also see the level of friction soaring.
TCS said it plans to make an offer to 75,000 freshener this year, a record for the company.
In an interview to TOI, TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan said, “Belief in technology and momentum in this case is increasing.” He showed how Cloud-based transformation represents architectural changes in it.
Cloud, he said, also allows capex to be replaced by OPEX, allowing companies to do more experiments.
At the recruitment momentum, Gopinathan said the last time TCS saw this in 2011-12, out of the financial crisis.
Infosys last week raised its income guidance for this year for the second time, an indication of how quickly demand was increasing.
The company has increased a fresher recruitment target for this year to 45,000, from 35,000 which has been planned three months ago.
Wipro CEO Thierry Delaporte said the demand environment was very strong “and the pipe, which was the highest in the recent quarter, was a reflection of it”.
CEO of HCL Technologies C Vijayakumar said, “We witnessed the highest net recruitment rate in the last quarter – 11,153.
Net recruitment for the last three quarters has been around 28,000 in our employees and there are 3,500-strange in terms of third party contractors.
So, the total is quite close 32,000 for the last three quarters themselves, “he said.
