Nagpur: Sequencing Genome has confirmed the existence of the Omicron variant in the sample of a 40-year-old man, who has returned to the city last week through New Delhi, from Burkino Faso in West Africa, Head of Civic Radhakrishnan B told toi on Sunday.
This is an Omicron patient who was confirmed previously in Nagpur.
Declared a variant of worries by whom, the new strain has now been found in 18 patients in the state.
Other cases come from Mumbai (5), Pimpri Chinchwad (10), Kalyan Dombivli (1), and Pune City (1).
Omicron is said to be more transmitting, and quickly replacing the Delta strain in many countries, which has not reported an increase in hospitalization because of that.
The West African nation is not among the objectives of ‘at risk’.
In accordance with the state public health department, 30 close contacts of the man were tracked and tested but was found negative.
Dighori residents, the man was unknown because he had tested the positive Covid on April 11 and left the country on June 26, before he qualified for vaccines.
In positive testing in April, the man has a mild covid symptom and does not require hospitalization.
He traveled based on negative RT-PCR reports.
On December 5, he arrived in Delhi from West Africa with a negative RT-PCR, which might be allowed to take the next plane to Nagpur.
“Our team found that he had a history of fresh foreign trips and asked him to take the test.
Because we took details even from domestic leaflets, we could prevent anyone from being transfixed,” said the civil head.
The man was transferred to AIIMS Nagpur on December 6, patient said.
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has sent 17 positive covid patient samples, including three more international leaflets, to sort to NIV Pune, which only returns a positive one.
Samples of two Returned English leaflets, a leading businessman, and 10 of the family clusters are among those found negatives.
The Supplementary City Commissioner Ram Joshi said four family members, relatives, and neighboring Omicron patients were one of the close contacts.
“Everything was tested on December 6 and was found negative.
Only positive leaflets will be tested again on the 10th day,” he said.
The NMC Chief Medical Officer Dr.
Sanjay Chilkar said the Civic body had told the state government about the arrival of men from Delhi.
“Higher authorities will receive calls to notify other state officials,” they said.
Omicron patients have traveled with private vehicles to their homes after giving a swab sample at Nagpur airport on December 5 night.
Civil officials said he had not provided details about the trip to the house from the airport.
Dr.
Chilkar said all suspects were in institutional quarantine in public and private hospitals.
“The treating doctor will receive a call on their debit according to the norm,” he said.
He said the man did not show symptoms since the day entered the Special Ward AIIMS Nagpur, where a 39-year-old woman and his 9-year-old daughter also claimed to take their journey to England.
Dr.
Joshi, Professor and Head, Department of Medicine, AIIMS Nagpur, said they would be tested on December 14 and discarded if found negative.
