Mangaluru: A total of 486 students in medical colleges, paramedics and techniques have been tested positive for Covid-19 from January 1-12.
The disciprocal health official also identified three new groups on Wednesday.
Kannada, said a hostel Engineering College was identified as a cluster after six students were tested positively.
A total of 77 samples have been collected.
School students at a government hostel were also tested positive.
While 36 samples have been collected, classes in schools that students have been suspended for now.
Six cases were also reported from the migrant worker colony, nodal officers said.
The Dakshina Kannada expert committee in Covid-19 met on Tuesday and had submitted a report to the Deputy Commissioner of the observations made and actions that must be taken from between 486 students, 196 students from Kerala and 127 came from Dakshina Kannada.
The rest comes from various parts of the country and the country, he said.
“Most students who have tested positive Covid both without symptoms or have mild symptoms.
However, it is important that they do not get along with senior citizens and those who have comorbidity,” said Dr.
Ashok.
One death in the Dkdakshina District Kannada reported 519 covid positive cases and one death, took the total death to 1,706.
This district has 2,253 active cases with a 5.04% test level of 5.04% .361 cases in Udupiudupi Regency reported 361 positive Covid cases on Wednesday.
The district has a total of 1,625 active cases.
The district has reported an overall position of 5.57%.
Taluk-wise, the level of peposititution was the highest in Udupi at 7.4%, followed by Karkala at 3.9% and kundapur at 2%.
