Mangaluru: The road between Pumpwell and Padil, on the outskirts of the city, will soon get a makeover, with the government sanction RS 26 Crore.
Once part of the NH-75 mangaluru-Bengaluru, the stretch of Pumpwell-Padil was renovated by the National Highway Authority (NHAI), after a new four-track highway connected to the city opened through Nanthoor to Padil.
The 2.8 km road will be developed into a four-track stretch of 24m under the Smart City Mangaluru Project.

Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel initiated road development work, by doing a puja bhoomi on Sunday.
He said that the road was a prominent stretch, because it would be the main approach to the new DC office complex, which was being built in Padil, Mangaluru Junction train station and the new bus stand proposed at Pumpwell.
Therefore, this project has been taken under the mission of City Smart in Priority, he said.
In the development of the stretch of national highway Mangaluru-Bengaluru between BC Road and Addahole, MP said that the work was expected to be completed in December 2023.
The Flyover proposed on the National Highway in KPT Junction, and others in Nathoor in the city, will also be taken soon.
“The proposal for the construction of the road under the bridge at the MahakaliPadPU train gate in the city, is in the tender stage.
The city will witness the sea of ​​development through the construction of an international standard sports complex in Uhwa, the international swimming pool and the seaside project proposed,” Kateel said.
In various City City projects, MP said that even though there was a delay in the first two years, works were accelerated at this time.

The city of Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath said various projects worth RS 2,000 Crore were approved for their constituency.
