Agra: Five armed men wearing masks allegedly blown into the homes of city-based radiologists in Jagdeeshpura Agra and Jarah jewelry and cash with a total value of Rs 20 lakh after holding their family’s doctor and hostage for almost 20 minutes.
Police said the armed men suddenly entered the house of Dr.
Jaswant Rai, 57, who runs its own ultrasound center at Shahid Nagar, around 8:30 a.m.
The doctor was dining while his wife, Sunita, a gynecologist, and his brother’s wife, Seema, who worked as a tax officer in Firozabad, was sitting and chatting when the bullies pounced them.
The doctor’s couple remained alone while their daughter was studying medicine at Lucknow.
Their brother-in-law visited him.
Before he could react, one of the men hit his head.
Rai said he lost consciousness.
When he realized, he found himself and his family members safely tied to the cassette in one of the rooms.
“These people threaten to kill us if we lift the alarm,” Rai said, adding that they took the almirah key from the family.
After removing all cash and jewelry worth Rs 20 lakh, they put everything in the bag and escape.
The trio managed to free himself and called for help.
Police said there were no signs of forced entries.
Initially 44 people from the area were detained in an effort to identify the suspect by making the victims hear their voices.
They, however, were released later because the family could not identify looting on the basis of their votes.
Vikas Kumar, SP (City), said 10 teams have been formed to resolve this case and will be resolved soon.
