Rajkot: Sakkarbuag Zoo in Junagad for the first time witnessing the birth of a striped hyena.
Two hyenas striped women gave birth to five children at the zoo on Monday.
Hyena Breeding Hyena Striped Hyena is very rare because of his behavior – shy and not a very social animal.
According to sources, these animals are categorized nearly threatened by the International Union for natural conservation (IUCN) because the global population of animals is only around 10,000.
With breeding captive from striped hyenas that have a fairly low success rate, there is a global concern for animal conservation.
Veterinarians say that not much information is available about captive breeding from a striped hyena.
Zoo officials say that they will be very observing how the mothers lift children.
If possible they will also try to rehabilitate hyenas in the wild.
With the arrival of five children, the hyena number striped in the Sakarbaug Zoo has reached nine now.
