Mumbai: The state has 60.63 lakh adolescents in the age group 15-18 years which will be eligible to get Covid-19 shots, while the number of senior citizens with comorbidity qualifies for booster doses projected 29.09 lakh.
This population is expected to be distributed by the center with the Maharashtra government on Tuesday to start preparation for drive expansion.
Vaccination for underage groups will be open from January 3, while Booster Shots for senior citizens will begin from January 10.
The center says that only Covaxin Bharat Biotech will be used for their vaccination aged 15-18 years.
There is no clarity about the type of vaccine that will be used for senior citizens as booster shots.
This center has also clarified that seniors do not have to produce medical certificates to prove their comorbidity, even though they have been advised to get previous advice from their doctors.
While Maharashtra is estimated to have more than 80 senior Lakh residents, the center estimates that 20% can have comorbidities.
Dr.
Pradeep Vyas, Secretary of the Head of the Additional State (Health), said the Indian Government (Government of Indonesia) has gone away by Registrar of Lndia’s (RGL) data.
“This is only an estimate and may not be too off-the-mark.
They have taken 20% of the population of 60-plus countries,” he said.
The appropriate number of Senior Mumbai citizens eligible for Booster Shots tends to be around 2.5 lakh from a total population of 11 lakh.
However, this city will have more than 9 teenagers lakh to vaccinate.
After rising cases, the drive will be intensified, said the summary of the City of Suresh Kakani.
The corporation plans to take encouragement to college directly.
But after it was suggested by the Covid Taskforce, they had decided to make a special time slot in the existing vaccination center, Kakani said.
Dr.
Sachin Desai, the state immunization officer said the state had more than 50 lakh doses of Covaxin to start teenage vaccination.
“We’ve started getting many questions from young people who want to take a shot,” he said.
In the whole state, there is no new vaccination center to be added because there are lower legs.
The center, in an online meeting held with America on Tuesday, emphasized that the expansion of drives from January should not hamper the ongoing drive.
