Haveri: Death has turned into a special problem in Hattimattor Village in the Haveri District, where there is no reason of burial, leaving people without choice but to rest their loved ones on the side of the road.
Hattimattor is a village with a population of more than 10,000, and lack of funeral land has citizens of freties from the hereafter family members and their friends.
Haveri: “We have to bury the people we love on the side of the road.
Do the last rite is a very bad experience,” said Hattimattor Resident Ningappa Talawar.
Hattimattor is not the only village in the Haveri district which is faced with this problem.
The only funeral land in Holeanveri in Ranebennur Taluk more than a kilometer away from the village, and the road to topping it through a Bible rice farm.
Ramanna Badiger, a village resident, said, “The authorities concerned must recognize the problem and take corrective action.” In all of the Haveri District, 61 of 692 villages under the income department did not have funeral land.
Haveri who Haveri happens to be the main minister of Basavaraj Bommai’s Home District makes the state more ironic.
Even in the remaining 631 villages, the road to the grave was bad at around 40% of them.
Pleasan and recurring petitions of villagers to the district administration, looking for land for funeral land has been perfected.
GP Girish Angadi GP member said that the funeral land was 6 km from the village.
Even worse, the road conditions towards the grave are bad, he added.
“It is very difficult to bring dead people from so far away, and many villagers have just buried the people they love on the side of the road,” Angadi said.
An official linked the problem with the lack of government land in 61 villages in the district.
“We have issued orders to each Tahsildars to buy private land for cemetery in these villages.
But villagers do not want to part with agricultural land, while others do not want burial land on their property,” he added.
