Mangaluru: Dakshina Dakshina Regency has reached 64% of its target in vaccination, to protect against Covid-19, by giving the first dose to nearly 15 lakh people, because the drive was launched on January 16.
While the district has given the first dose.
For 64% of the target population, 33% of them have received the second dose too.
From the 18 lakh target population in the district, 11.50.976 has been given the first dose of vaccines, and 3,79,489 has been given a second dose, such as on Saturday.
The district has so far managed 15,30,465 vaccine doses, said Dr.
B Rajesh, RCH OFFICER, Dakshina Kannada.
“We have reached 100% of the target in questioning Frontline workers, by managing the first dose of vaccines to all 15,854 beneficiaries of the police, revenue and other departments.
Meanwhile, the district has reached 98.1% of the target by managing the first dose of vaccine to 2.07 .709 beneficiaries, of the 60 categories above.
Similarly, the district has reached 96.6% of the target, by managing the first dose vaccine to 50,784 health workers, “said Dr.
Rajesh.
Although vaccination drive starts for health workers in the first phase in January, according to official data, only 68% have received the second dose.
RCH officers said that most health workers have received the second dose, but statistics show that only 68% of them did it, because they had entered a different contact number on the portal.
Meanwhile, some of them have not taken the second dose, because of a breakthrough infection, he added.
From the category of frontline workers, almost 54% have received a second dose.
Meanwhile, 57% of beneficiaries above 60, have received the second dose.
The district has not made important progress in categories 45-60 and 18-44.
While nearly 78% of beneficiaries in the age group 45-60 have received the first dose, 42% have received a second dose.
Likewise, while 47% of the beneficiaries of the 18-44 category have received the first dose, only 13% received the second dose.
RCH officers said that vaccination drives will be intensified, because the government has begun to supply more doses.
“We have received a sufficient number of vaccines from the state government.
We have provided 36,573 vaccine doses on one day on Friday, and 47,175 doses on Saturday,” he added.
