Ghandigarh: Charanjit Minister Charajit Singh Channi is likely to brew half a dozen new faces while five ministers who are part of Amarinder Singh-LED-government is expected to be dropped from the cabinet.
With a list of ministers for the diffinized new cabinet, Charanjit Minister Singh Channi on Saturday met the Governor of Banwarilal Purohit in Raj Bhavan at around 12:30 a.m., and after the meeting announced that the expansion of the Punjab cabinet would be held tomorrow at Raj Bhawan, at 4:30 a.m.
His meeting with the governor came only a few hours after he returned from Delhi, where he had the final round of the cabinet formation talking to the party’s top orders.
In accordance with sources, new faces of the Punjab cabinet tend to be Raj Kumar Verka, very Singh Gilarjian, President of the Punjab Congress Kuljeet Nagra, Gurkeanerat Singh Kotli, Secretary General of Punjab PCC Pargate Singh, and King Garring, and King.
The party was also studied to decide to defend Vijay Inder Singla, Manpreet Singh Badal, Brahm Mohindra, Sukhbinder Singh Sarkararia, Tripe Singh Singh Bajwa, Arungu Chaudhary, Razia Sultana and Bharat Bhushan Ashu from Amarinder Singh Government.
However, five legislators – Gurmit Rana Singh Sodhi, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Gurdreet Singh Kangar and Sunder Sham Arora – who are ministers in the Amarinder Singh-LED cabinet tend to be dropped, said source.
Channi was called to Delhi by the High Command Congress on Friday to discuss the cabinet formation.
The visit came in a few hours after he returned from the national capital.
“If some ministers are dropped and new faces are being introduced, it is based on their performance and for effective functions of the state government,” said the source.
As many as 18 MLA can be included in the cabinet, including the Chief of the Minister of Channi and his two representatives Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Op Soni.
