Letter: Investigation of 7,000 Liter Effluent Dumping by trucks in the Pipe Drainage General Waste Processing Plant (CETP) in Sachin has revealed that the content is very toxic and acidic material.
The truck was confiscated on September 13 after the police sent material to test the Gujarat pollution control agency (GPCB) and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to determine the content and based on findings that filed a complaint at the Sachin Police Station on Thursday.
Amitkumar Patel and Arvindkumar Pal, the owner and truck driver, however, are run.
The police have ordered two residents of Ankleshwar based on complaints submitted by Bharat Patel, an official of Saachin Udhyogagar Sahkari Mandli Cetp Plant.
The locals saw the tanker release waste at the drainage line at night and told CETP officials after the police were contacted.
“Initially it was not clear what the material was thrown by the defendant.
We checked it by GPCB and FSL and who confirmed that it was a very toxic material,” said K Zala, Police Inspector, Police Station Sachin.
Along with toxic chemicals, dissolving metals such as copper, nickel and cadmium also found from waste.
Because of its very acidic nature, fluid can be proven to threaten human or animal life.
“Toxic waste is dangerous for the environment.
It was brought from Ankleshwar and should be delivered on several CETP instead of releasing it directly in the drainage,” police said.
Through drainage, waste goes to rivulet and finally goes to the river or sea.
The police suspected that the defendant’s truck owner signed a contract to dispose of waste from several industrial units in Ankleshwar.
“He should get waste treated before releasing it in the open.
He must sign a contract with several CETP to treat waste.
But to save the money allegedly releasing waste without treating it,” Add the police.
