Thiruvananthapuram: Searches are made in 232 bread and sweet production unit in the capital by the Department of Food Security, where 73 institutions are given notice to improve various practices found not in harmony with rules.
The search was conducted by the Department of Food Security under Ruchi operation, which was conducted from December 17 to 31, to examine the use of chemicals and hazardous materials during the Christmas and New Year season.
47 types of samples were collected from various units for inspection.
However, there are no such units that must be closed in the capital for conditions or violations of non-hygienic regulations.
As as much as 2,829 units are sought throughout the state of the season, where 376 repair notices are served.
815 samples were collected and eight units were asked to turn off operations throughout the state in the Ruchi operation.
After examining all the samples collected are complete and if the anomaly is found, further action will be taken against the manufacturer and those who sell these products, Vr Vinod food safety commissioners say.
The Department of Food Security has set a special search for searching various companies and throughout the state to ensure safe and healthy food during the festival season.
Special forces have searched restaurants, bread and cakes and cake manufacturing units randomly.
The commissioner of food safety has also provided special instructions to check the use of chemicals, artificial sweeteners, artificial colors, preservatives etc.
