Pune: technical failure because of the enforcement of insulators in a 400kv transmission line that supplies power to Lonukand and Chakan’s sub-stations producing almost 8 hours blackouts in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, Chakan MIDC, Lonukand and Wagholi from around 5am on Wednesday, influences more than 24 Consumers of Housing, Commercial and Industrial Lakh.
The worst hit are those who work from home, students provide exams and attend online classes, industrial units in Pimpri-Chinchwad-Chakan belt which virtually witnessed “days without production” and the remaining housing properties without water until noon, and even outside.
The State Electricity Transmission company Maharashtra Limited said extreme fog caused stumble a 400KV transmission line that turned on the Lonukand and Chakan sub-stations, which feeded sub-stations in Pune and other areas.
This led to forced shedding in all 400KV and 220KV transmission lines in Pune, Baramati, Chakan and Industrial City.
A MSetCL official said staff members ensure that emergency services, such as hospitals, water supply, oxygen projects and train and airport functions, are still not affected during blackouts.
The MSetCL press statement reads that 400kv talegaon-chakan, 400kv lonukand-chakan, 400kv lonukand-karjat and 400kv lonukand-karad transmission line is affected because of termination of isolation.
It adds that the line is maintained regularly.
“Forced-shedding is done to manage additional burdens in other 400KV lines, which produce almost 1,000-1,100 MW loading of loads.
After an additional power supply of 1,000 MW of the 400KV Koyna-Lonukand transmission channel continued, the power is restored across the city of Pune and industrial areas in the phase, “Read the statement.
The resulting electricity is transferred through a high voltage tower line of up to 400 KV, 220 KV, and 132 KV sub-station extra high voltage.
From this sub-station-station, the power is distributed through 33 KV, 22 KV and 11 KV sub-stations to consumers of housing, commercial, industrial and agriculture.
Many residents from Balewadi, Bibvewadi, Kothrud, Baner, Warje, Prabhat Road, FC Road, Daharuk Colony, Erandwane and Wagholi complained of frequent power disorders even after 6pm.

“The supply was restored in the 9th phase at the morning, after that the pump was continued at normal pressure,” he said.
Other PMC officials said the pump was influenced because almost one to two hours.
The impact on Wadgaon is more and it causes some disorders in supply to distribution channels because water is supplied at low pressure.
The official added that the water supply would be normal on Thursday.
