Rajkot: Eight people, worked as a waiter at a resort at the Kalawad Road in the city of Rajkot, received burns after the fire broke in a small room where they slept on Thursday morning.
Two of the eight are said to be in critical condition.
A forensic team investigated the cause of the fire.
The police said that the room door was locked from the outside when the fire broke.
The incident occurred around 5am on Thursday in a room behind Nirali Resort where eight staff – Hitesh Labana (27), Laxman Labana (19), Deepak Nayak (18), Lokesh Nayak (20), Raju (20) , Raju (20), Raju Labana (55), Shantilal Labana (52) and Devilal Labana (20) – sleeping.
All employees are native to Rajasthan.
When the fire broke, they shouted for help and the chef who worked at the resort came to save them.
Who was injured in a hurry to a civil hospital in Rajkot.
The police said that Devilal and Raju were in critical condition.
“The victims said that they had put their cellphones for charging and electrical short circuit might cause fire.
But the room was locked from an unusual outside,” said the police source.
