Pune: A eight-year-old girl, who played with a swing made with Dupatta, died of shortness of breath on August 29 at Rupeenagar in Talawade.
The accident occurred when the girl was alone in the room, while three older sisters were in another room.
Chikhali police have registered an accidental case of death.
The police said that on August 29, the girl’s father went to work, while his mother went to the market.
“The four of their daughters were alone at home at the time of the incident,” said an officer from the Chikhali police.
The girl had made a swing with a dupatta binding with curtain stems in the room window.
“When playing, Dupatta was entangled in the girl’s neck and she died of shortness of breath,” the officer said.
The incident was revealed, when one of his sisters entered the bedroom and saw the girl hanging from Dupatta and her legs did not touch the ground.
“The girl was immediately taken to the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital in Pujri, where she was said to be killed by a doctor,” the officer said.
