Guwahati: Infection among those who are vaccinated worrying for health experts because the state government has decided to allow visitors to Puja Pandal Durga, which has at least the first dose.
After maximum relaxation was given from October 1, people began to violate the Covid protocol.
As high as 80% of Covid cases detected in Guwahati were among people who were vaccinated, while some died of Covid even after getting the second jab.
“In Greater Guwahati, we have seen that 80% of people who are infected with Covid take the first or second dose,” said Kumbrup (Metro) DC Bisangan Puru.
The district government has made it mandatory to get visitors and the Puja organizers to get it vaccinated with at least the first dose, although health experts feel that the current situation shows that people who are vaccinated are equally susceptible to infection and can spread the virus.
“People who are fully vaccinated also transmitted Covid-19.
Government policies are mostly to test people who are not vaccinated at a medically unhealthy entry point,” Dr.
B Borkakoty, a senior scientist at ICMR-RMRC, Lahowal, in Dibrugarh say.
Hundreds of vaccinated air passengers from Covid’s affected countries entered Assam without screening at the train station and airport.
Toi approached Assam NHM to find out the number of people infected with a virus in the state after being vaccinated but could not get a reply to the archiving of this report.
S health experts say that the severity of this disease is relatively higher among those who are vaccinated with the first dose.
“Vaccines are important because the majority of people who die because Covid-19 is not vaccinated.
Vaccines can reduce the suffering of infection but cannot prevent diseases in all cases,” said Director of Medical Education, Dr.
Anup Kumar Barman.
The sources of the Ministry of Health say that the change in viral strain may have changed the vaccine ineffective to a certain extent.
“The structure of the virus often changes.
This is a normal phenomenon for their survival,” said a health official.
“Death among those who are not vaccinated are higher but even people who are vaccinated with both doses have also died in Assam,” he added.
