MySuru: New Year has brought good news for the tourism industry.
City hotels report above the 95% occupancy rate over the weekend.
In the midst of scare Omicron, the hotel and tourism sector, which was considered the backbone of mysuru economy, was able to attract customers.
In MySuru, around 10,300 hotel rooms are available at 415 hotels.
All hotels have residential above 95%, explaining C Narayana Gowda, President Association of Mysuru District Hotel owners.
“On Monday, tourists returned and the occupancy rate on Monday was around 50%,” he said.
He also observed that fear of the new variant continued to haunt this sector despite better tourist foot points at the beginning of the new year.
The number of visitors to MySuru Palace also proves that the city witnessed a large tourist flow.
On January 1, 10,215 tourists visit the palace.
On Sunday, January 2, 10,163 tourists visiting the Palace, the main attraction of the city.
Among the visitors 1,912 are children, 32 are students, and 21 foreigners.
Meanwhile, since October, Monthly visitors to MySuru Palace remain above the 1st of the 1 lakh sign that is the highest since April 2021, 1,73,834 tourists visiting the Palace.
In November, this number is 1.51.234.
On December 2021, 1,59,783 travelers visit the palace.
On December 26, 14,411 travelers and on December 25, 28,559 travelers visit the palace.
