The dump of fresh coriander leaves was found near the Kodipalya on the side of Doddaballapur-Nelamangala Road in the countryside Bengaluru district on Tuesday.
The leaf bundles used to take Rs 12-RS 15 on the market are now at the price of Rs 4-RS 6, Sangamesh said, residents of Kuchappanapet in Doddaballapur Taluk.
According to Anjaneya Reddy, a progressive farmer in NayaneAlli, coriander was planted on agricultural land near urban habitat because the market that was ready nearby gave luxury farmers harvesting all plants.
These are mostly used by hotels and restaurants and also in functions such as marriage.
Some farmers have grown coriander in the hope that the Covid situation will increase and the demand will rise, he said.
Reddy said farmers may also have been influenced by several chultries around Doddaballapur, not hosting weddings and receptions on the scale they did before.
