Mangaluru: Head of Traffic (TWS), Mangaluru City, Joe Gonsalves, died here on Sunday.
He is 99.
Gonsalves is one of the active traffic guards in the city, and the strength behind the formation of Tw.
People can see it marry traffic at the city junction every day.
Under his initiative, TW was launched on October 2, 2015, with assistance, the Murugan City Police Commissioner.
Over the past six years, despite his old age, Gonsalves can inspire many young people to join the squad and serve the community.
He was born on January 1, 1922.
After graduating from St Aloysius College, he moved to Bombay.
He joined as a management trainee at J L Morrison and Company Limited, who owned the head office in London and branches in the Metropolitan City of India.
He also served as the branch head in Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata, and was finally brought back to Mumbai as head of all branches in India.
He married the deceased Irene Gonsalves.
He survived by four children, including three daughters, and dozens of grandchildren and grandchildren.
Interestingly, Joe took Yoga at the age of 85 years.
After his retirement in 1983, Joe has served the community in various capacities.
