Chennai: The cumulative Coronavirus case of Tamil Nadu rose to 26.45 lakh with 1,697 positive reported on Sunday, while 27 people died because the deadly disease took the victim to 35,337.
The number of recovery was less than a new case with 1,594 people out in the last 24 hours, gathered to 25,93,074 which left 16,969 active infections, said a medical bulletin.
A total of 1,56,850 samples were tested, pushing the cumulative number of specimens checked up to 4.53 crores until the date.
As many as five districts contributed most of the fresh infections with the country’s capital that leads to 232 cases, Coimbatore 215, Erode 131, Chengalpet 114 and Thanjavur 103 while the rest are spread in other districts.
PERAMBAL, TENKASI and Theni recorded seven cases each, while in Virudhunagar was eight.
Ramanathapuram recorded at least three.
There is no fresh death in 23 districts.
Among the 27 deaths reported today, four without comorbidity or diseases that existed before, added the bulletin.
