Chennai: The state government has initiated the process of filling backlog vacancies in posts in each government department and public sector business (PSU) allocated for people with disabilities.
Nodal officers have been appointed in all departments and PSU to do special drives to clean backlogs at vacancies.
This campaign will ensure that people with disabilities are given 4% ordering as per section 34 (1) the right of persons with disabilities of law, 2016.
So far, the Social Welfare Department has identified as many as 1,095 vacancies, including 380 in Department Education and 214 in the Ministry of Health, in the government sector.
The process of collecting details from PSU is still active.
“Vacancies will be filled in the next six months by making a special drive by each department,” said an official in the Social Welfare Department.
“Nodal officers will be responsible for the entire special recruitment drive process, starting from identifying vacancies until recruitment is complete,” officially added.
The state government has announced the panel constitution to monitor the implementation of social justice in education, work, post and promotion.
The panel will play an important role in ensuring that the old vacancies are delayed meaningful for persons with disabilities filled.
