Kolkata: The Kolkata Traffic Police took several additional steps on a rainy Saturday to ensure that the weekend night traffic continued to move smoothly.
This includes removing the main parking lot opposite the Grand Hotel in the new market area and installing a channel in garawan to make sure the buyer does not move onto the road.
With rain too, keep buyers in HatiBagan, the flow of traffic remains better compared to the last two weekends.
The presence of a large number of police on the streets late at night for soaking idol Ganesh ensure that the disciplinary driver and Jaywalking remain under control.
However, certain parts of the city -burden by bad roads – witnessed a slower vehicle movement.
This includes Prince Anwar Shah Road, CR Avenue and Behala Market area.
Across the city, the police returned to manual traffic signaling.
“We must change the traffic cycle in several places to control the leap in the number of private vehicles on the road,” said an officer.
In the main market, the police replaced civil volunteers with people in uniform at night.
In Pasar Baru, the South Traffic Guard removed the parking area opposite the Grand Hotel from the beginning of the night to increase the road space.
There are no taxi applications, private cars or taxis are allowed to stop too long near Lindsay street entries.
In garawan, the flow of traffic remains almost normal thanks to the police making special channels at the main intersection.
The percentage of buyers who wore a mask was relatively higher in the new market compared to last week and was significantly higher in garawan.
