Without takers, MSCL scales fell the cost of the transport hub project

Mangaluru: After three consecutive tender processes, Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL) has decided to reduce project costs from the integrated transportation hub proposed in the city.
Although Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has 7.23 hectares provided for the new integrated transportation center near Flyover Pumpkin, this project is still in the proposal stage, due to the lack of bidder.
With three interesting tenders invitations there is no bidder, MSCL plans to implement a project with a new design and revised project costs.
Thus, the project costs will be reduced from RS 490 Crore to Rs 150 Crore.
In fact, MSCC has plans to develop integrated transportation hubs, which include integrated bus terminals with retail malls and recreation centers, and centralized and integrated bus terminals to include inter-city, intra-city and intra-state buses close to Junction Pumpwell.
This project will have additional facilities for passengers, spacious parking spaces, food stalls, hospitality, commercial spaces, and other facilities.
The Mayor of Premanand Shetty, who is also a MSCL Director, told TI that a new design with reduced project costs will be approved, and the re-tender process will begin soon.
MSCL General Manager Arun Prabha said that immediate new detailed project reports would be prepared, by reducing the project.
“We invited a tender for this project three times, but did not find the bidder to take it.
Therefore, we have dropped all the previous plans regarding the project.
We have held several consultations with various stakeholders, and decided to improve the project.
We have plans for Reducing project costs from RS 490 Crore to Rs 150 Crore.
We are in the process of preparing a new detailed project report for the project.
Immediately, the tender will be invited to a new project, “he added.
