Bhubaneswar: For the first time, Pompano India, marine fish species, harvested in the state of the marine cage that was cultivated from Bahabalapur in Ballasore District.
The sea cage was created by the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) with the help of the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) for aquaculture for fish species based on pilots.
About 12,000 sophisticated fingerlings from Indian Pompania filled in seven cages on the sea cage farmers from Bahabalapur on August 8 were released at an offshore cage by Balalasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi.
NFDB has funded this pilot project.
Each cage is received between 1650 and 1700 Fingerlings.
This clear average weight is 50 grams.
“After the rain was unrelenting during the second week of this month, the flood water entered the sea.
The entry of land pollutants to the marine environment increases the levels of suspended and dissolved solids and amazing oxygen demand.
As a result, the contents of the dissolved oxygen decreases and around the cage and force We are for early harvest, “said Gyanaranjan Dash, a CMFRI scientist.
Harvest is done on Saturday, 40 days after saving fingerlings.
More than 1.7 tons of production were achieved from the initial biomass of 0.59 tons, showing a triple increase threefold in a period of 40 days.
“Survival is 87 percent and the average weight when harvest is 170g.
The increase in daily weight is three grams,” said scientists.
Dash said they had not seen an increase in previous daily growth.
“This experimental demonstration of this girl from Indian Pompano farms in an offshore cage will help the country to increase productivity from sea cages.
This delicious fish has demand on the market.
Farmers can get a good profit from the marine cage culture,” he added.
Dash said they had a plan to establish eight marine cages again in October and 15 more in November.
“After November, we can create 30 seats from the Bahabalapur coast for Demonstrations and Indian Pompano demonstrations.
Farmers will learn from us and take this cage farm in the marine ecosystem in the future,” he added.
