Panaji: Dedicated tourist police forces have finally been placed and are likely to start patrolling the coast of stretching from Monday, World Tourism Day.
The team consists of around 100 trained police in soft skills.
“The tourist police are likely to start their duties in the tourist belt from Monday,” an official said to Ti.
The Ministry of Tourism has long felt the need for tourist strength for humans to enable direct rescue tourists, to impost to each illegality and stop vendor disorders, among others.
However, besides this power, more police personnel will also be asked on the beach.
At present, IRB personnel are posted on the beach.
Because there is little number, they cannot effectively patrol when many people build.
In most days during the season, the Calangute beach was the most crowded and needed a 24×7 patrol.
A tourism official said that they also wanted tourist police to report to them about the coastal hut operators who put the deck beds more than permitted.
“We know most places the deck beds and umbrellas more than what is permitted.
When every hut operator does that, the beach will be clogged so it is difficult for visitors to walk freely,” the officer said.
He said that every time they sent a team after complaints, the Shack operator ensured that the area was cleaned and the excess bed deck was removed before they arrived.
Vendors, those who offer massage, sell goods, and some even sell food and drinks, and beggars are prohibited on the beach.
However, a handful of them can be seen on the beach when they managed to avoid the police patrolling.
“Vendors oversee the police and thus plan their entries.
When the police presence decreases at night, you will see a large number of vendors at the time.
At night, they have a day of fields,” said the shack operator in Baga.
In addition, officers said they expected tourist police to contain drinks on the beach, which are also prohibited activities.
